Kedith secures three large distribution centres across Botswana and more than 30 retail stores. The lesson from all of them: if you only guard the shop floor, you're guarding the last link in the chain.
Start at the distribution centre
Goods leave the distribution centre in bulk, and that's where large losses happen. Officers check vehicles in and out, verify loads against paperwork, and control who enters the warehouse.
Watch the delivery
At the store, receiving should be supervised: counts checked against the delivery note, damaged or short deliveries recorded, and the back door never left open.
Then the store
- Receipt checking at exits
- Support at stock takes
- Visible officers at high-loss aisles
- Incident and arrest reports for every case
- Cash escort between tills, safe and bank
- Store alarm and in-store CCTV monitoring after hours
Measure it
A retail security plan should come with a risk assessment and regular reporting, so you can see where losses are falling and where they aren't.
