Out in the red-soil bush country of the north-east, a drill rig is turning over fresh ground. Around it: orange barrier mesh, a mandatory-PPE board, and a silver-and-red Kedith Response Unit with “24/7 Response” on its flank. Standing watch are two officers from our Francistown Operations Team.
When we shared these photos on 28 October, Botswana noticed. In a little over a day the post passed 196,000 views, most of them from people who had never followed Kedith before. This is the story behind it.
What securing a drill site looks like
An exploration site is remote, expensive and exposed. The rig, its fuel, its tools and its core samples sit in open bush, often far from the nearest town. Our job is to make sure the only people and vehicles on that ground are the ones meant to be there.

On this deployment the Francistown team covers four things:
- A controlled perimeter. The pad is fenced and demarcated. Officers watch every entry point and log who comes and goes.
- Mobile response. Response Unit KS07 is on site, so officers can patrol the wider area and react fast.
- Site rules, enforced. Mandatory PPE applies to everyone, visitors included. Our officers hold that line with the client’s safety team.
- Day and night presence. Cover runs around the clock, linked to the Kedith 24/7 control centre.

Prospecting, polishing, purchasing
Minerals change hands many times between the ground and the buyer, and every stage carries its own risk. Kedith protects each one.
- Prospecting. Exploration and drilling sites like this one: perimeter control, patrols and response in remote areas.
- Polishing. Diamond cutting and polishing facilities: access control, guarding and strict compliance with client codes of conduct.
- Purchasing. Trading floors, offices and the movement of high-value goods: VIP and tactical officers, escorts and secure transport.
One security partner across the chain means one standard, one control centre and one point of accountability.

We think it landed because it was real: our own officers, our own vehicle, on a working site. Batswana want to see local companies doing serious work in the industries that build this country, and that matters more than ever as Botswana turns 60 and looks to the next 60.
Well done, Francistown
To the Francistown Operations Team: thank you. You showed the country what Excellence in Service looks like in the field.
